Africa is one of the least represented continents on the World Heritage List and it has one of the highest number of properties in danger, with 19 of the 56 sites inscribed on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
The African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) in partnership with Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is organizing a workshop to support the removal of 13 cultural and natural properties from the List of World Heritage in Danger in Africa and Arab States. The workshop on Supporting the Removal of Properties from the List of World Heritage in Danger in Africa and the Arab States will take place between 9-13 December 2024 in Rabat, Morocco. Key partners for implementation of this project include ICOMOS, IUCN, ALIPH and ARC-WH.
The workshop aims at supporting the process of developing and finalizing the desired state of conservation for removal (DSOCR) and the implementation of corrective measures for cultural and natural properties inscribed on the List of World Heritage in Danger in Africa and Arab States.
