Director General Message

Dr. Salim M. AlMalik

Director General, ICESCO

In line with our new vision, ICESCO adopts a forward-looking approach that embraces the future, utilizing technological innovations across all fields to strengthen its core sectors of education, science, and culture. The Culture and Communication Sector and the heritage center have focused their efforts on promoting the use of innovative technologies and AI applications in heritage management as well as enhancing the presentation of heritage in the Islamic world at a global scale.

In response to the increasing number of registered sites in ICESCO as Islamic World Heritage list, with over 370 sites now are recognized, ICESCO has launched the Portal of Heritage in the Islamic World. This portal presents the sites included in the ICESCO list of Islamic World Heritage, serving as a testament to the various stages of human history in the member states.

This portal is also dedicated to presenting the activities, publications, and initiatives of the ICESCO Heritage Center. In addition, it offers an interactive, user-friendly map designed for use by professionals and experts, as well as young people and the general public.

The platform has been launched as part of our efforts to manage heritage in a changing world, particularly in response to the increasing challenges posed by conflict and climate change. Through this platform, ICESCO aims to safeguard this heritage and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
