Baiza, or falconry, was practiced by the Bedouins in their valleys, especially the deserts of the United Arab Emirates and the Arabian Peninsula, as one of the important forms of hunting in a land scarce of natural resources. However, the role of falconry in society has changed over time. Today, it has become one of the most important traditional sports in the United Arab Emirates.
The sport of falconry represents the noble Arab values such as courage, pride and glory. In addition, it plays a role as a model of nature preservation, sustainable hunting, and the spirit of friendship that binds falconers.
