Inscription Procedures on the Islamic World Heritage List

The files are submitted to the committee for the inscription of historical, archaeological and natural sites and manifestations of intangible heritage on the list of heritage in the Islamic world. The applications are studied in accordance with the criteria, conditions and clauses contained in the registration form approved by the committee, which adopts ten technical criteria for cultural and natural heritage, and six criteria for intangible heritage.

The criteria are agreed upon in advance and updated during the periodic meetings of the Heritage Committee in the Islamic World. Member States then prepare the files and send them to the national Commissions.

Finally, the General Secretariat presents them after they are evaluated by the auxiliary scientific committee.
