Expected outcomes and priorities

The consolidation of  a vibrant,  agile and  sustainable  Cultural  Heritage  Centre, serving  as  a catalyst for heritage management and entrepreneurial  activities in the Islamic World.

The aim is to develop an enhanced creative system to ensure better management of integrated heritage assets, which will, led to:

  1. a) Strong promotion and showcasing the diversity and richness of the Islamic World, Heritage in its totality at the international level.
  2. b) Sustainable and integrated management system for Heritage amongst Member States.
  3. c) Effective capacity in Member States to respond to factors affecting Heritage management.

Vision and objectives:

The Heritage Centre programmes and activities thrive to play a part in improve people’s sustainable participation in the management of their heritage.

In this context, the Islamic World Heritage wealth provides unique opportunities for enhancement, sustainable growth and opportunities for entrepreneurship. The Centre operates in all the regions represented at ICESCO and ensures that their needs in managing and promoting their heritage are addressed.

The main objective of the Centre is twofold:

(a)  To ensure that the needs of the Member States in the field of  sustainable and integrated heritage management are catered for.

(b)  Ensure that ICESCO is visible at the world platforms dealing with Heritage at the international and regional levels and promoting Islamic Heritage.

 

Strategic Priorities:

The priorities set for the Heritage Centre are based on addressing the two main objectives and aimed at a positive impact on the Member States. The strategic priorities are based on the guidance provided by Islamic World Heritage Committee of ICESCO, as outlined in the Executive Plan for the Development of Cultural Heritage in the Islamic World.
